I was getting preapproved for a car I found at Carmax through my credit union when they told me the car was priced $3,500 more than the NADA value of the car. When I discussed this with my salesman his response was "well it's very hard to determine the fair market value of a car" and "well most banks will finance you for 125% of the fair market value" to which I replied "why in the world would I pay 25% MORE than the car is worth!!" A little searching revealed that this is their business model to sell all of their inventory above value and finance people for more than the car is worth!! Do not do business with Carmax!!! A little searching reveled a newer model with less mileage and more features being sold in Manassas!!!
This is my Social Media Posts to thousands Carmaxx on Thornton Road should not be the place to have your car serviced even if you have a Carmaxx warranty, take it to Alpharetta, they are great & their service department won't rob you blind. The Thorton Road location does not appreciate its clients because they steal valuables from your car. My daughters Dr. Dre Beats Pill was stolen from our car in Thornton Road in Lithia Springs, GA.
Car was put on the showroom floor with a tear in the tint.... Still trying to understand why that was not noted and fixed prior to selling a 2010 Audi. Nevertheless car was purchased and an appt was set up for repair. I was told it would be 30-60 minutes. I arrived promptly for my appt and the car was picked up 30 mins late. I had the same issues with a previous purchase from Carmax....bought a car that had several issues that needed to be fixed. Granted I never paid out my pocket by live 50 miles round trip and it's an inconvenience when cars are being sold with issues that require return.
What a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend carmax to anyone. I want to give all the credit to my sales professional David Brache. I can't say enough about this man. He is truely a dedicated professional. Since I walked in the door, Dave made me feel special. We searched the internet and found the exact truck I was looking for. He had to transfer it from Miami and it arrived in two days. He covered everything and we had great communication during this process. He is asset to the carmax operation. I also want to give thanks to Debbie in administration. She handled all my closing papers and was a true delight to work with as well. These two people represent the professionalism that all dealerships should set their standards too. Thanks again for the awesome experience.
